http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168.... How would i go about mounting a server on this thing? Something like a Dell PowerEdge SC1425 Server.

Normally servers come with all the required mounting hardware. They come with rails which mount to the front and back vertical rails. With the newegg link you show, I would be worried that is not DEEP enough for a server. The depth between the front and back is shown at a max of 21 inches. The dimensions I see for that server are 24 inches deep. I don't think it will fit with factory mounting hardware.

Is this a factory new server or a used server? A used server might not have all the mounting hardware included.

Used, I was looking at these http://www.norcotek.com/item_detail.php?categoryid=3&mo.... However since you mention the fact about depth im worried it wouldnt work.

Are there standards for servers? Such as 15" 24" ect idk. Or is this rack just weird? I guess my real question now is what kinda rack (budget friendly) should i be looking for.

A data center rack is usually 38 to 48 inches deep. That is with doors. The extra depth is needed to contain the cables in the rack.

If you put two sets of the shortie rails you linked to (one in the front and one in back) and just sat the server on them you would be OK. It is only if you tried to use factory slide mounts that the depth could be a problem. I don't know if the rack you linked to included any cage nuts but you will need them.

Since that is a 1U server, DO expect it to be loud.
