Hello, i've read about 10 different threads about this problem as i do not want to make a forum post directly. but since i cant manage to make this problem go away im making one.

This is the problem i have. Bought a brand new SSD and im trying to install windows on it, i do ONLY have this harddrive plugged in right now, im currently using a second computer to write this and, i've tried multiple things but none seem to work.

here is what windows says.

Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an exisitng system partition. See the setup log files for more information

Need help to solve this problem.

SSD = ADATA SSD Premier Pro SP900 128GB
MB = ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
Windows = Windows 7 64bit on USB drive from windows own website so it's a legit copy.

Are you using SSD and hard drive interchangeably ? The SSD should be the only thing plugged in.

Note some USB sticks won't work i.e. 64 GB

Are you using the USB download tool ?

Im using only a SSD, nothing else, Not sure what interchangeably means (not english as my main language). But yes SSD is the only thing plugged in.

And yes i am using the USB download tool recommended by microsoft like the one you've linked

Since i'm a bit stressed about getting this to work i'll delete the 64 bit version and try with a 32 bit version of windows 7, i'll report back if it works or not

When you first boot up, does it show the SSD drive in BIOS hard drive list?

Need to have BIOS set to AHCI, and you will need to download AHCI driver for your ASUS board from ASUS.

At the screen where it lists partitions on the windows install, there should be a spot that says load driver, put the driver on a different USB stick and then install it.

Then you should be able to create the partition and install windows.

You can always burn the driver to a cd.

I dont have any CD's available to burn, So i'll have to fix it tomorrow or so, but does it have something to do with the windows being a 64 bit version?
