Hi all,

I seem to have a very odd problem, where my can't determine what speed my RAM is running at. I have had the following readings:

MemTest: 888 MHz
Task Manager: 1400MHz
Speccy: 666MHz
BIOS Screen: 1333Mhz

I have recently upgraded my motherboard from a Z87-HD3 to Z97 Gaming 7, but the RAM worked fine at 1866MHz on my old mobo. I have also taken the sticks out and put the back in.

Each time I try to change the speed in MSI's BIOS, it says that the configuration failed, so had to be set to defaults, which is apparently 1333MHz.
Please help!

Specs:
i5 4670k
Z97 Gaming 7
16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866
Asus GTX 770 2GB
120GB SSD Samsung Pro
1TB Seagate
Seidon 120V Watercooler

Do you have CPU-Z? You can use that to check it out in your operating system. It'll read as 1/2 of 1866Mhz and if it does well that's right. To be sure of it, you should check your BIOS for XMP and enable that. Reboot your PC and recheck your RAM clock speeds in the BIOS.

The speed they're running at is 1333Mhz, have you enabled XMP Profile 1 from Memory section in BIOS? You need to manually put in the speed and timings as stated on stick's tested setttings. For your sticks, it should be:
Speed: 1866Mhz
Timings: 9-10-9-27
Go to BIOS, select XMP Profile 1 from memory profiles, and enter the above mentioned details, leave everything else on auto.

Right, CPU-Z says that the RAM clock speeds are 666MHz which is half of 1333, not 1866 :/ . I'll try and enable the XMP now.

Well, I enabled XMP (and it didn't crash like the other times I tried it! :)  ) And the speeds went to 1866, which CPU-Z and speccy both agree on now, but Task Manager still says 1400MHz. But other than that, the timings are correct and the speeds match up (both say 933MHz and 9-10-9-27).
Thanks!

It's all good, ignore task manager, CPU-Z and BIOS are much more knowledgable (and accurate) about the specs :)

Task manager seems to be messed up. It read my 1600Mhz as 667Mhz and all of my other utilities + BIOS said the right speeds.
