I was thinking performance/$$$. I would rather spend on performance, than fluff. Is 2x 970 overkill, probably, considering the monitor being used. At the same time, my build shows how much that fluff is really costing. When the fluff costs as much as a high end GPU, vs getting solid quality components, I don't think such fluff is sensible. A balance of performance and looks would be something more like this.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£174.99 @ Ebuyer)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£78.88 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard...
ASUS Crosshair V Formula can help you reach 100% potencial performance of your FX-6300/FX-8320 through overclock.

But Corsair Hydro Series H55 wont help you.

Try: Cooler Master Seidon 240M, Corsair H100i, Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme, NZXT
Kraken X61, Swiftech H320(!).
Or: Phanteks PH-TC14CS, Noctua NH-C14, Noctua NH-D14, Thermalright TS-140, EVGA ACX.

low budget? Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

that build will choke on a lot of games. the 6300 while ok for entry level wont work well if you pair it with a high end gpu.
also get a 550-600w 80+ bronze or better psu 850w is overkill and forget the blueray drive you will never really use it and can always be purchased later. use what you save to get a better cpu (fx8320).

That looks great!

I just added the correct mobo. You had a Z87, and I added a Z97, which will work straight off the bat. The Z87 would have given you problems with updating the bios of the mobo, and you needed an un-refreshed Haswell CPU IIRC.

Here it is:

Only thing I would change about this again is the motherboard to an ATX platform (or the case) as it'd give the appearance of a very spacey case which may look a little funny however will work and perform very well!

This is an update to that, the Asus Z97 pro will do the trick perfectly as it's an amazing motherboard and also fits the case. The motherboard also creates a golden color inside the case which the gloss finish on the golden parts can create internal lighting reflections which in my opinion can look awesome! As with all things though it is indeed personal opinion and what suits you may be what you go for. For example you may decide you want an on board Wifi solution therefore upgrading to a Z97 deluxe

Too many overpriced components that offer you little in return.

It depends though. The computer may be overclocked and to reach maximum potential of overclocking liquid cooling is generally the way to go BUT saying that, heat syncs such as that still work. It depends on what you want from the rig, a well performing bang for buck rig or a sexy well performing rig which maybe slightly less efficient on the money side. I however wouldn't SLI 970's enless you're using more than one monitor.

it'd be pretty overkill for two 970's on one monitor! I mean if you're playing Crysis 2 all day every day at like ultra settings then sure it'd destroy that but eh... I was just thinking with the wallet!

Seems pretty nice, couple this off with some red Corsair LED fans and you've got yourself a winner!

You could also have an internal lighting system which is like £20 tops
