I have 12GBs of Ripjaws DDR3. The packaging and ram sticks themselves say @1600 but when in my computer they run @665. Wondering if I'm able to overclock this. It may be because of my CPU, which is an AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4ghz (Non black edition), or some other limitation, although my mobo does allow higher frequencies than 1600. Anyone know if I'm able to OC these modules?

you have to change the setting in the BIOS
and set it to 1600MHZ to make it run at default speed
and as for OCing is concerned
you can but its not required for gaming

Actually it didn't work correctly, I changed the setting in BIOS and my computer didn't start correctly at first, the power was on but it wouldn't post. After a few tries it booted normally, and when I checked CPUID it said that my dram frequency was running somewhere in the 300's rather than the normal 665mhz. So what does that suggest?

Nevermind everyone, I wasn't trying to overclock, I was trying to get me memory to run at the speed advertised on the packaging, but it turns out it's working properly after all. Please close this thread, so I don't look like a dumbass lol.
