Hello, I recently bough an MSI Radeon 280x, so the first thing i did was to try playing skyrim, it was ok, 60 fps at max quality, but just for 10 seconds, then the pc freezed and it started to repeat the last sound rapidly making a buzz noise, it also happens when i run furmark and when i try to update windows experience index. I decided to see the temperatures with the msi afterburner, and before the pc freezed the gpu just reached 60ºc so i don't think is a gpu problem.
i have intel core i7 3770, an ezcool 800w psu (i know is a bad psu), an asrock h61m-vg3 motherboard, and 8gb ram ddr3.
thanks

No, nothing, it just freezes, it doesn't send signal to the monitor, it just make a buzz noise and i have to disconect the psu. it happened to me sometimes when i played with the integrated gpu, the hd4000, but now i use the 280x and play in max quality it freezes always. but as i said before, the weirdest thing is that the gpu just reaches 60ºc

I mostly suspect the PSU not being able to supply enough power at high load. I highly recommend you to change the PSU. It will kill your sysytem.

to make sure its not the gpu test it on another pc.

-another thing u could do is to test only 1 ram module in 1 slot with furmark because ur gpu is using some of ur pc ram memory and maybe its faulty

-lower the clocks and rise the fan speed with msi

-at control panel>Power Option> switch to hige performance

also check ur cpu temps with speed fan.

That PSU is a piece of Junk it will kill any system. No matter what the usage is.

I didn't said its an awesome PSU.But from the terms of power consumption that junk can give enough watts for the system even on full load.

i'll try to lower the clocks and rise the fan speed, I have only 1 ram module and i already tried it in both slots, i think its must be a problem with the psu or with the motherboard.

is there a way to make sure the psu is the problem without trying to us the gpu in another computer?

Its a crappy PSU so you should change it regardless

u could with a voltmeter(checking the voltage flow) but to test the gpu at another pc is easier and safer.

i already tried to use a thermaltake 650 watt bronze certified psu, and thats not the problem, when the gpu reached 60ºc it freezes again. The person who let me tried the psu in the store recomended me to reinstall the OS

I don't think that reinstalling OS will do.

-install gpu-z: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2398/techpowerup-g...

and at the sensors tag check all gpu temps not only the processor when gaiming!
