Hi I considering a pc case for my new build that didn't have a drive bay, the nzxt s340 case is the bomb in my opinion but I dont think I can live w/out a cd drive,

so I saw the E3iO scorpion gaming pc's at this link that had a slot loading cd drive that looks real clean and minimalistic which is something I might be going for here is the link to that pc http://e3io.com/scorpion-gaming-pc

I then started researching and found this silverstone 5.25 drive bay heres the link http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=326&area=en

now to get to my question! I was wanting to now about the slim slot cd drives, are thay meant for laptops? and what do I need to search for in getting a slim drive for this pc, sata connection ect I did see that silverstone offered a slim slot load for blue ray,cd/dvd and or just cd/dvd+-R but wanted to see what my option are before I just buy the silverstone slim drive.

thanks
jeff

You could always use a USB attached external dvd drive.

Yes, the slim drives were initially used for laptops.
But they found a use for compact builds.
I installed one in a lian li Q02 case.
It works fine.
The thing you have to realize is that the sata and power connectors are different, you need a specific cable to attach one.

It looks like the case does not have ANY external drive space.
If you love the case, plan in using a usb attached dvd drive.

Personally, I would opt for a more standard case.

The motherboard (Purchased) is an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0, The GPU will be Asus R9280X, Processor will be AMD FX-8320, and CPU coller will be Prolimatech Megahelms.

I haven't picked out a power supply yet.

I am looking at two cases right now has external bays
the fractal r4 white and the nzxt h440 white no external bays

I like the R4.
On the psu, buy only a quality unit.

The R9-280X needs about a 600w psu.

I have no problem overprovisioning a PSU a bit. Say 20%.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.

As a heads up, the R9 cards have more than their share of issues. If this is your card, about 37% are unhappy with it.

In general, the experience with the R9 cards has been better than that, but not as good as current nvidia.

you have really giving me a lot to think about when choosing a graphics card, If you don't mind me asking what graphics card would be a good mid-range graphics card for playing games should I choose one powerful card or two mid cards linked together.

I would always pick one good single card over dual cards. Dual cards give you good fps benchmarks per dollar.
But... they are prone to stuttering or tearing because of slight mismatches in capability.
Dual cards generate more heat and take more power than a single stronger card.
If you will be gaming on a single monitor, even 2560 x 1600, there is a good single card for you.
If you are looking towards triple monitor fast action gaming or a 4k monitor then you need serious graphics capability with two or more strong graphics cards.

In general, I think a budget of 2x the cpu cost gives you a balanced gamer.
In your case, I think a single GTX970 would be appropriate.
