probally in the wrong area but whatever.

I want to know if i change my motherboard and cpu from a AMD a8 5600k and a msi mobo... to a intel i5 2500k and a asus mobo will i need to get a new copy of windows? I bought my hard drive from a pc guy up the road with windows installed on it and i dont have a cd backup key or whatever... i think you know what i mean???

any help is appreciated.

My buddy on my teamspeak server says all i have to do is delete the amd drivers and such and it will work.

Yes you will need a new window license. If you have bought a Window 8 or 8.1 OEM licence then you can reuse the license as long only one is used and installed.
Reinstalling is the best option to prevent drivers issues.

If you have Windows 7 you will need to call Microsoft, explain yourself, and hope they give you a new key.

If you have 8.1 you will not need a new key. Just to call a number and fill out a prompt when reinstalling the OS.

In any matter, you WILL have to reinstall Windows more than likely and it is ALWAYS recommended when changing motherboards.
