I currently have EVGA GTX 780Ti... I am planning to go for 4K monitor...
So I would like to know your opinions :)
Should I SLI the GTX 780Ti or should I get the GTX 980?

Shock me with your knowledge ;p

Thanks :)

Note: there is another thread the same as this one but I didn't mean to choose an answer for it! My bad :/

No, two wont just give you 60 fps on 4k. The "Full HD" that youre running on right now with max settings is probably 1920x1080 right? Going from that to 3840x2160 is not going to give you 60 fps, and if you think that way you'd be wrong. I mean think about it...

Just one? Nope, still too early for that.

- GTX 980 won't perform any better.
- SLi 780Ti's? I think its far too deep within the waters of diminishing returns for that. Too much buck for not enough bang.

4K is relatively new consumer tech and when a single card comes out that will play all titles max 4k @ 60fps, then that would be the time you dig in for that card.

In the meantime, just buy a big 1440p and run games with MSAA. Should be happy for quite a while.

If you really want to shoot for 4k, i'd say looking at later iterations of maxwell maybe a redesigned titan. but for now, one or two R9 295x2's is your best bet. Honestly though, 1080p looks freaking awesome still imo, I havent really had direct access playing games at 4k resolutions but hey, until 1080p looks like 240p compared to them and until the monitors and equipment drop in price if it ever becomes a standard, i'll keep my 780ti and enjoy my crazy awesome fps. Also yeah, 980 does not really put forth that much improvement in the 4k arena, even with 3 of them the boost is minimal, also they barely outperform the 780ti

I am somewhat in the same situation.
My thought is that I want to buy the 4k monitor first, then decide how much graphics power I need.
Unfortunately, the current set of 4k monitors do not have all that I want.
I am concerned that current 28-32" will be too small to see text.
And 40-50" do not yet come with displayport or other 60fps capabilities.
I might expect more like the end of the year for that.

GTX980 might be a moot point. They are hard to buy now, and I don't think they are significantly stronger than your current card.

By the end of the year, we might see a stronger GTX980ti or whatever.
Or... you might find that sli of your current card will do the job.

If you gaming is not fast action shooters, then even your GTX780ti might be sufficient.
It will pay to get the monitor first, then decide.

Maybe you are right but I don't think I will be replacing my monitor for 1440p it is just not that good for me! I would rather spending my money on the 4K than buying 1440p and replacing it in one year...

Well 28-32" is just fine.. Don't worry you will see the text! In the end it is a monitor not a TV ;p

Anyway most 4K monitors now are based on TN panel.. I want my monitor for gaming as well as editing and designing so I would rather take IPS panel..

And GTX 780 Ti play all of my games on ultra settings ( Full HD ) won't two just give me 60 fps on 4K resolution!

I mean think about it going from 2 million pixels to 8 million? Youre not going to have the same fps you would in 1080p, thats 4 times the amount of pixels your graphics card has to render. Also if you think maybe 3 or 4 780ti's could get 60fps at 4k resolution, check this link http://www.digitalstormonline.com/unlocked/4k-resolution-gaming-on-the-nvidia-gtx-780ti-gtx-titan-and-gtx-780-idnum102/
