Trying to run 3 Samsung 4k Mointers @ 11580x2160p. Right now I have a single 780ti and have tried run it in SLI with my spare 780ti and still wasn't enough to maintain over 20fps while gaming.

What setup do I need to go with?

2x or 3x 980s SLI
3x or 4x 970s SLI
or 2x 295x2 Crossfire

4 980s is the best youll get right now performance wise right now, as long as you have a rig with at least a 4930k or 5930k to puwer it.

to be very honest
the GPU technology is not really ready for a tripple 4K setup yet

What would be the max resolution todays newest GPU's can handle without stuttering.

a 980 wont stutter at 4k, it just doesnt have the power to push high framerates.

right now, id stick with a single 4k if thats what you want and upgrade when better tech comes out. you could probably even do a surround setup at 1400-1600p with 980s too.

most likely will be maxing out the vram with that you need I would say around 6gb of ram for that setup. where both your cards maxed out? you need a powerful cpu as well to be able to push both those cards to the limit as well

Honestly, less monitors...

SLI and Crossfire don't scale that well with 4 GPUs, most I would do is triple 980s, or a 295X2 and a 290X in tri-fire.

2 980s has issues pushing a game at 60 FPS at high settings on a single 4K monitor, not sure what the expectation would be with 3 monitors. Tri SLI 980 scored about 73 FPS on BF4 with a single 4K monitor on ultra settings.

The 980s actually scale very, very well where the performance is needed.....29% going from 3 - 4 cards where max theoretical would only be 33%

But there is no such GPU and won't be for some time

http://us.hardware.info/reviews/5623/4/nvidia-geforce-g...
Crysis 3 with ONE 4k monitor, very high 4xAA

(1) 980 = 15.2 fps
(2) 980 = 29.1 fps
(3) 980 = 42.1 fps
(4) 980 = 54.2 fps

On BF4, the scaling from 3 to 4 cards is better than 27% which again is very close to the max theoretical 33 %.

I really do not want to use less moniters as I, iRace. (iRacing.com the game) as 3 moniters is beneficial as I can see cars around me instead of using mirrors and such.

At this time, it looks like i'll continue to game in 1440p until a more powerful GPU comes out that can support the resoultion I'd like to game at.

Perhaps the best thing to do is to eliminate aa which costs a bunch for the card to handle.
With higher density, you should not notice the difference.
Since your GTX780ti cards are not significantly weaker than GTX980. I don't think you have a top answer available today.
You get diminishing returns as you add a 3rd and 4th card.
If FPS is most important, you will have to dial back the eye candy.

When Big Maxwell arrives, things might be different.
