Hi everyone,

Very close to finishing up my first ever PC build. It all seems to function normally, except for one part.

My PC does not seem to recognize the hard disc in the BIOS, nor in the Windows installation. I checked the wires and rewired them and they seemed to be okay.

Anyone else know what the problem may be?

What is the make & model of the drive?

Do you have another PC to test the drive on?
If it fails on a 2nd PC, then send it back for RMA.

Check if the drive is spinning - you should feel a slight vibration, and/or it will get slightly warm over time.
If its not spinning, check the power plug, and/or try a different one.

Try different SATA cables.
Try different SATA plugs on your motherboard (some boards have "raid-only" plugs)

Note - if the bios will not find your HD, its almost a guarantee windows installation wont find it either.

I dont have another PC to test it on.
It is a Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA HDD (ST1000DM003)

I will try the things you suggest.
Anything else based on the harddrive I have?

not yet... Mainly i wanted to make sure you have a modern drive. and you do.

If the drive wont power on, then changes are high it was dead on arrival (DOA). So you will need to send it back for replacement.
