How can I tell if a motherboard supports GeForce cards?

The title pretty much says it all. I wish to build or have built a gaming PC and I like the GeForce line of cards.

Because the high end cards can be very pricey, I plan on building something that I can upgrade and improve later. What this means is that for a few months I will be going without a discrete GPU so I would also appreciate any advice on how to tell if the on-board GPU will be fast enough to run games like TF2 and Counter-Strike Global.

all motherboards supports both Nvidia and ATI. but if you really wanna check search for the make and model number of the board for it's specification in google.

Some boards don't support SLI even if they have the physical connections available. However for single cards all boards with PCI-e 1.0 @ X16 speed support both nvidia and ati cards - 99% of all consumer boards since 2008
