I purchased a ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer board 5 months ago had some small issues at first but now its running great. Cleaning my pc today i noticed the discoloration on the Chipset heatsink was black when purchased im wondering if this is normal or if i should be worried?

Probably getting a little warm. Looks like it was anodized with a thin layer. Probably coming off. Not really much to do about it. You could replace it with an aftermarker copper sink if you are really concerned. http://frozencpu.com is a decent place for getting heatsinks.

If your board lists the chipset temperature in the BIOS, or through hardware monitor, make sure it is reasonable (like below 80C) If it is I wouldn't worry about it.
