This shouldn't happen. How much programs do you run in the background? How much RAM do you have?

1. Update your motherboard's BIOS, if you have not done it already. (If you recently purchased it, don't do it.)
2. Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel and set the GPU to highest performance.
3. Update your graphic card's drivers, if you have not done it already. (If you recently purchased it, still update it.)

Hey,

you must be doing something wrong. If all the hardware and software is properly installed you should be looking at 3x times the FPS you are getting now.

Things I can think of - what's your exact motherboard model? Have you installed all drivers from its manufacturer's website? If not then you should do it right away.

Is your CPU cooler installed properly? Have you applied the thermal paste properly? Is the CPU overheating? Check your temps with something like HWinfo - http://www.hwinfo.com/

Are you sure your BIOS is configured correctly and are not gimping your CPU speeds by some weird settings?

Does your PSU provide sufficient power to your system?

And many many more. But at least there is a start for you.

Forgot to ask you, which power supply are you using?
