Hello guys, I'm fairly new to Overclocking and got a little problem.

I tried to overclock my computer via skype with my brother, because he has a little bit more experience. We changed some things (I will provide screenshots), but the changed settings won't be adopted and it's still on the normal clock.

We - for once - set the Intel Turbo Boost Technology to Enabled and the CPU was on 4,3 GHz on CPU-Z. Then we started Prime95 and tested the stability and the Clock went down every second to atleast 3,3 GHz under stress.

Google didn't help us, because there isn't much info about the mainboard with the cpu.

I hope you guys can help me with this problem.

Thanks for your help in advance!

you mean i5-4670K right? And that is really weird because your CPU is very popular for overclocking I would think google would help a ton!

Here are a few OC tips:

1. Don't put turbo boost on lol, it will prevent stable overclocks.
2. Disable power saving features like speedstep and C1 states.
3. Follow a overclocking guide.

Hey,

of course I mean 4670k, sorry for that!

Google didnt help, because there is no info for my Mainboard :-(.

As you can see on the screenshots I disabled everything that has to do with turbo boost.

It sounds like your CPU is throttling down the clock speed due to heat. The problem with these original haswell chips is that the heat spreader isn't making good contact with the CPU die so it gets very hot even at stock speeds sometimes. To fix the problem you must remove the heat spreader yourself and apply your own thermal paste from the die to the heat spreader. The heat spreader is the top metal part of the CPU.

I have included a link that shows how to do it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_rji1Nx5qM

I have to warn you before you try this... You could break your CPU if you try this.

It's not the case. When I try to overclock it on my mainboard, after the reboot it doesnt even change anything as you can see here:

So something is wrong, but it's not because of overheating.
