Very Perplexing Hard Drive Issue

When my computer restart itself to update, it booted back up with a short message saying "No Array..." And then "No boot drive detected.". So, I did the usual diagnostics. I changed the SATA slot to make sure it wasn't that. Still nothing. I made sure it wasn't a power shortage, but I felt the HDD working when I held it, so notta. Then I changed the SATA cable, still nothing.

I felt the HDD work for a second after boot, then stop, then start again, thinking that might be an issue. So I did a system reboot while my components were already powered on for a few seconds, and it worked. Is this an issue with my Motherboard, HDD, or may just loose connections? Sorry for the bad explanation. Just please tell me it won't require a new HDD.

What is the make/model of your hard drive? It sounds like it's dying (which means you might have to get a new drive :??:  ).

It is a Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB (got it out of a pre-built when I built my new one). I have owned it since February of this year, so it surprised me that it was failing so quick. Typical HP quality. Replacing all your parts but the HDD probably voids the quality. (Sarcastic, of course it does.)

But, you ask me, it just sounds like the HDD is taking so long to boot, that it boots after the motherboard checks for an install on your HDD. Very Strange. Might be a power shortage in that case, or, like you said, the hard drive is dying and I gotta transfer everything on to a new one before it is too late.
