For the most part, you can't replace the components in a notebook/laptop computer. They are usually soldered in place.

What do you mean wrong answer? If you know the card can be changed why are you asking here?

The T9900 CPU is not OK, it is not even the right socket type to fit in your motherboard.

Look up that model and see what is the CPU options for it, you can get something from that range.

I don't see anything about the Samsung R720 having a removable video card. Open it up and see if it has an MXM slot like this http://www.computershopper.com/feature/build-your-own-l... in the 4th picture there.

Same socket now but the old CPU runs at 30% less power which means the motherboard may or may not run the X9100 and the heating setup for the laptop may not be enough to keep it cool.

Someone here http://forum.notebookreview.com/samsung/684642-r720-upg... upgraded that laptop to a T9800

hmm. i found this laptop: http://olx.pl/oferta/notebook-samsung-r720-js01pl-17-3-...
Same type, but the processor is: Procesor: Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor X9100 (6M Cache, 3.06 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

You can try for the upgrade, just make sure that the BIOS is updated first. It may be better to just get a new laptop rather than buy a CPU and have it not work. A used laptop with a Core i5 CPU is likely around $250 if you look around.
