After almost a year of owning my gaming comp I just now realized that my CPU temp is getting up to ~86C, I wish I had realized this earlier.

I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to upgrade from the stock CPU fan, anyone recommend a fan/paste that might remedy this?

computer specs (in case it matters)
GTX 970
i5-3570K
8gb RAM
600W PSU

I did recently clean out the dust in my PC

My case should be fine for airflow, it has plenty of room.

The CPU isn't overclocked yet but I will probably do it in the future

All recommendations and advice are appreciated, thanks in advance

two thnigs to do right now..power the pc down and check that the intel stock heat sink legs are still locked down. they have because there plastic to pop loose. for the money the evo 212 not bad if your case can take a 160mm high cooler. if not look at some of the low profile air coolers.

You probably did not install the stock HSF properly on the first try.

As far as aftermarket HSFs are concerned, the CM Hyper 212 EVO has one of the best bang-per-buck out there. The bundled paste is good enough to get the job done so you do not really need to worry about that.

All the plastic legs are still locked down. I think that when I was first installing the stock fan I was unsure of how to lock the pegs correctly so this may have led to inefficient cooling.

But either way I'll take a look at the height I can handle in my case

UPDATE

It looks like it should fit

I assume that any mid sized case should be able to hold this?

Just to make sure it fits here is my case
