I am building my own PC. My CPU (processor) is an Intel i5-4690. My motherboard is an ASRock Z97 Extreme6 LGA 1150 Intel Z97. I do make youtube videos, and hope to do this often. The youtube videos are of video games, and I was wondering if 16 gb of ram would be better for recording videos than 8gb. Also, If I wanted to record my footage from my xbox 360, and I only have 1 monitor, is it possible to start recording and then switch to the screen on my xbox? Like would it stop recording when I switched the input source?

16 GB is always better than 8 GB ..... the amount of benefit that you get however depends on what you arte doing ..... video editing, CAD, photo work are all things that benefit greatly from more RAM.

Thank you!!! Thats the confirmation I needed. Any recommendations for brands of ram? I was thinking of getting GSKILL RipJawz or whatever it is. 2x8gb of it. I know that you also need a good GPU for videos. Would a NVIDIA Gtx 750ti do the job?

16gb is always better than 8gb but 8gb should still be enough for your needs. As for changing the input, it should work since the capture card should only be plugged into one monitor to begin with but it might not. You'd have to check that for yourself.
