Hi, I've been having problems with my CPU in running BF4. It seems like my CPU is severely bottlenecking my GPU though I'm not entirely sure if this is correct. Hence why I'm here. In the pictures provided you can see my CPU spiking and I can't figure out why (also these were taken in the test range where your CPU shouldn't really be straining itself). This problem gets worse with stutters in actual multiplayer servers, any suggestions for a fix? (I've also provided my current video settings in case that's an issue)

What GPU are you running? How much RAm do you have?

I have a Sapphire R9 270X Vapor-X 2GB, and 8Gb of 1866MHz Ram. Also, my 750k is currently OC-ed to 4.03Ghz (has a Hyper 212 Evo).

You should monitor your components usage rates. For your GPU, CPU and RAM.

For CPU monitoring program: CPU-Z http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

For RAM monitoring program: Press (ctrl + alt + del) on your PC keyboard and open you task manager

Well I usually monitor my GPU through Afterburner and it never maxes out especially since I'm running BF4 on medium settings, but my FPS dip significantly whenever BF4's CPU graph spikes. I just don't understand why it spikes and what a possible change I can make either to my CPU's settings or BF4's settings to correct the issue.

What's your PSU? It's time to try all our options.

Damn! This is a tough puppy to crack...Turn down your 750k back to stock settings, including the voltage (if changed). Play BF while at stock settings and tell me if you get spikes. It could possibly be a oc problem making your CPU unstable, but it's just a theory ^_^

Ok, I'll get back to you tomorrow on that as is past 1am here. My CPU is overvolted but I just used OC Genie 4 included on my MOBO. It currently has the memory bus set at 103.5MHz and the multiplier at 39x. Also the core voltage is at around 1.300V to 1.350V. But yeah I'll try putting it back to stock to see what happens.

Alright, so here's what I've found. When I took my overclock off, BF4 performed about the same maybe a bit worse. I then started messing around with BF4's settings some more and found that if I put the resolution scale up to 200% my system would perform better (which is the opposite of what you would think would happen because it uses more supersampling). This made my CPU spikes very few and far between and made my FPS more stable for some reason. So then it hit me, I've been using Mantle which is supported by my CPU and would make sense to use on an underpowered CPU. When I switched over to DirectX11 the game ran butter smooth. So now the question changes to, why doesn't Mantle work for me?

Idk...But if it runs smoother as it is now then do you need it? ^_^ If you would prefer it then I will do everything in my power to help you figure out why it's being a problem for your computer
