Currently, I'm using a TV as my main monitor and is connected to my video card through its DVI port. I need to use my second monitor right away, but the problem is it uses VGA. I have a VGA to DVI converter, but my video card only has one HDMI port left. I tried connecting my VGA monitor to my CPU but it did not get detected on my computer. Is it actually possible to use a monitor from the video card and another monitor from the CPU at the same time?

Oh, and I realized just now that I can buy an HDMI to HDMI cable, but it's a hassle to go buy one and also expensive. I just want to know if there's any way with the options I currently have.

VGA monitors will only work on a VGA to VGA or DVI-I to VGA cable (either pre-made cable or adapters). Your GPU must be used to connect both devices or the mobo (GPU removed) connecting to both devices.
