I have an Intel i7 first gen cpu. i7 920 @2.67ghz.
It is liquid cooled, but with what unit. I'm not sure and as of right now, I'm not in the position to open up my case and look, etc.
But it is liquid cooled, the computer is...maybe 3-4 years old?

Under load, like with battlefield 4, it can get as hot as 65C. I am also running a R9 270x, if that has an relevancy.
Is this normal, or should it be lower and is that temperature too high?

what liquid cooler are you using? they are not all the same. some cost $60 while other cost as much as $1000. or it could be anything in between.

my i7 5930k heats up to 68*C when running full blast with a corsair H110 liquid cooler. but that only happens when i run 12 threads of prime 95.
