I installed windows 8 on my external hard drive and now, my original OS won't boot. The bios setting is set to booting from external devices and when I disconnect the external HDD and then start the computer, no operating system is detected. The problem is that I cannot find a way to go into the bios to change the setting back to booting from internal drive. I tried every option I found and nothing worked. I tried pressing all the f key and esc and delete. Tried restart and cold start ups. By the way, there is no uefi firmware setting in the advanced start-up menu. The bios setting is set to legacy boot instead of uefi boot.

Can you not read the part where the OP said

If you're going to try and help somebody, at least take the time to actually read their entire post first. Maybe even more than once to be sure what's being asked. I've made that mistake myself a time or two so don't feel bad.

If it will not allow you to enter the BIOS by pressing the correct key, you probably need to remove the CMOS battery so it will reset to default BIOS settings. You'll have to remove it for a few minutes then put it back in.

Really? Honestly, I've never seen or heard of the "assist" button before. Thanks for posting that fact as it will be useful for the future. Good luck to you.
