Hello,

Does anyone know of any reason why 2 x HYNIX 2GB 800MHz PC2-6400 DDR2 CL5 SODIMM modules won't work as an upgrade for an Acer Aspire 5735Z please? It currently has installed (from purchase) 1 x Nanya 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2-667MHz CL5 SoDimm and 1 x Elpida 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2-667MHz CL5 SoDimm.

Crucial's System Scanner states that PC2-6400 memory modules are a suitable upgrade, though obviously they recommend their own brand. However with the HYNIX modules installed the laptop will not boot at all. The seller insists the new RAM was tested prior to dispatch.

Many thanks.

Wasn't able to find documentation on this model (seems to no longer be supported) but some people have claimed that it only accepts 667MHz DDR2 memory. You should try contacting Acer directly to get a more definite answer.
