Are there any CPU game benchmarks?

We usually see GPU game benchmarks - like how a GTX 780Ti performs in Crysis 3 at resolutions from 1600x900 to 3840x2160.
We get different average framerates for these resolutions for the given card and we compare it to other cards, so as to know how much better a given card performs in comparison to another given card.
My observation is that if the resolution is quite low for a particularly powerful card, then the framerate remains the same for that and more powerful cards than that; in other words, the CPU that is getting used in the benchmarking setup is bottlenecking the cards.

My question here is that are there any benchmarks for CPU's that indicate where the framerates are that bottleneck a given CPU for some popular games, so that it's easier to decide whether to buy one CPU or another weaker than that or stronger than that? Or do testers not tend to benchmark CPU's like this?

CPUs are benchmarked in games the same EXACT way that PUs are. the difference is that the control group changes. instead of using the same CPU to test all GPUs, they keep the same high end GPU in place and keep subbing out the CPU (and motherboard if need be) to see which one comes out on top and to see where the CPU is no longer a bottle neck.

Are you aware of any such benchmarks?
