Hi everyone I seemed to have run into bit of a pickle my video card can't slot in horizontally??!? This is the first time I've seen this issue-I'm guessing I've missed something haven't i?

Quickly before I start mobo is gigabyte ga z97 g1 gaming wifi black edition and gigabyte 980gtx (not reference card)

Have been assembling latest pc build (for me) and have uncovered a funny and odd issue, the backplate on gigabyte's 980 gtx seems to make the card slot in incorrectly (so that the pci-e contacts on the right side of the card [where the latch locking system Is on your pice ports] slot in, but the left hand side is completely visible [the area closest to the read of the pc] so you end up with exposed gold contacts. I've already tried using the case mobo standoffs in a silly attempt to rebalance the board, I'm sure I must have missed something, case is carbide 500r, please can somebody help my dumb ass it has been a while since I've built

make sure the two metal tabs at the bottom of the i/o shield on the video card are being inserted on the inside of the slot. sometimes they are bent outwards a bit and ppl try to slide the card in so the those two "teeth" for lack of a better term, are slid thru the slot, so they are visible on the outside of the case.

unless the backplate was installed completely off-center, it should not even be close to affecting the pci-e contact strip of the gpu

Just wondering if you've tried that yet...I'm interested to see because I honestly cant think of anything else that would cause this other than something stuck in the pci-e slot on the mobo.
