Hi there!
I currently have a Corsair CX-500M 80+. I plan on upgrading my rig to a AMD FX-8320, 8GBs of RAM and a Gigabyte R9 280X OC. I do not plan on overclocking. So is the 500W psu enough for this setup?
Thanks for the replirs in advance!

500w is easily enough even if you wanted to overclock

Wrong - RealHardTech recommend 600+W. Corsair CX 500 are not good quality PSU's. They are Corsairs entry level model.

hmm I might have been looking at a higher quality psu, I have been looking at intel mostly these days so power I generally see people over doing but you might need somthing more like 600 w for this or a good 550w

FX is higher TDP than Intel, and even if it was an i3 (much less TDP), you should not recommend it, CX500 is crap quality, it'll fail even on 270X's load, let alone 280X.

EVGA 600B is good quality for the price. SeaSonic/ Antec 620W, XFX 650W are better options.

Thanks, they are reall out of my price range (or at least here in Hungary). However I could afford a CX-600, will that be enough?

Please, avoid CX, the PSU uses cheap caps which fail on high loads, CX600 is no better. Try for Antec VP550P.

They are at the same price as the EVGA in Hungary. I know its a dumb idea but what if I run my system with the cx500 and put another 500w psu (I have another HKC) and with the that I only run the gpu? Is this possible? And if not why not? :D
