Hello,

I have a weird issue with my new PC i built myself.

Whenever I switch on a lamp plugged into the same power strip as where my PC is plugged in, it's switching itself on and open the windows login screen normally.

I'm having trouble to identify the problem.

What could be wrong ?

I tried plugging a different lamp, used another power strip, tried with a different wall plug... same issue.

I don't understand what could cause this as I installed all the stand off for my motherboard...

What could cause this ? A defective power supply or mother board ? (defective internal parts causing a short out ?)

A short out between the motherboard and the PC case ?

What could I try to identify the cause ?

I'm very worried at the moment because I put a lot of money into this new build and it seems I'm the only one having this weird issue and fear I will never find the cause :(

Thanks for your help !

Additional information :

The issue is present even when nothing is plugged in the computer but the power cable. So it's can't be a "wake up lan" issue :/

Are the plugs right next to each other on the power strip? Try switching the plugs, for example if the lamp is plugged into the first slot and the PC plugged into the last slot, plug PC in the first slot and lamp in the last slot

Thanks for your help.

I tried with different plug settings, different power strips... same issue. My screen doesn't do this, nor my other laptop, only my new PC.

When switching off my lamp, my computer stays on. No problem. Could it be a mother board shorting out somewhere ?

Other than this issue, i have no freeze while the PC is booted or running, nothing wrong. But this is annoying and possibly dangerous because there is a power leak somewhere.

Can you plug a 2nd power strip into the current power strip and have the computer plugged into one and the lamp plugged into the other? Also how close is the lamp/power strip to the PC tower itself?
