How to have a software turn on automatically when my computer turns on

Is it possible to make a specific software that i have downloaded on my pc turn on automatically whenever my computer turns on without me having to do anything but turn it on. Windows 7

The easiest way would be to drag a shortcut of what you want started into the startup folder in your start menu.

Click your Windows button in the lower left, then click programs. You will see a folder called Startup. Just drop whatever program you want to start in there and it should run whenever you first start Windows.

Unless something has changed, I thought the startup folder only worked during login. The OP stated "turn on automatically whenever my computer turns on without me having to do anything but turn it on.". In this case, you can use the task scheduler in windows 7 to specify "run at startup" or "run at logon".

That's a good point.

Depending on the security requirements, it may also be useful to have the PC autologin - run on startup is fine for things like webservers or backends, but won't work for e.g. PoS stuff.
