I have seagate 1 TB hard drive which i've bought last 5 month ago. It went smoothly, and I havent encounter a single problem since then but recently, a few issue began to appear. One of those is that i cant rename it. Before I've encounter the problem, i've manage to rename it a few times but somehow, it rename it self back to "Local Disk (E:) " and since then, I can't rename the external again. Another problem, would be the unstable transfer speed. Normally, my transfer speed is about 98 mbps to 100mbps but it began to slow down and sometimes unstable. It reach a peak rate of 85 mbps but will eventually go down to 2mbs and then, goes up again. though even with recently problems, I'm still able to use my hard drive but i want to know its a sign for a in-pending bigger problem.

Are you using Windows 10? There is a tiny chance that there is a bug there that is causing issues.

Otherwise I would suggest that you RMA the drive, after seeing those speed drops. Shouldn't be happening.

Try rename via Disk Management.
Or Open disk management under computer management console right click the affected drive and choose "Change drive letter and paths", now choose "Remove" drive letters.
