Okay so, I am about to move my ps4 out into my games room in my shed so I can play whenever I want. However, in my games room the connection is always between 0-1/4 bars and I dont want it to lag really bad when im playing online. So I was wondering would it be worth buying a netgear wifi extender to put in my games room so I had a better connection? Or connect the ps4 to an extender with a ethernet cable?
What is my best option in this situation.

Thanks

That will not help. If your xboxs gets a poor connection the "extender" device would also get a poor connection. It is not some magic device that can somehow create radio signal out of nothing.

You have 2 options when using these type of devices. You can run a long ethernet cable from your xbox until you get to a point you get good signal levels. Performance wise it would be as good as if you sat with your xbox where you placed this device. The down side is you have to run a ethernet cable to a location that gets good signal. The second way is to run this as a repeater. You still need to place the device in a location it gets strong signal from the main router. It will then retransmit the signal to your xbox. The second way is to run this as a repeater. You still need to place the device in a location it gets strong signal from the main router. It will then retransmit the signal to your xbox. This tends to be tricky to find a location that it can get good signal from the main router and also provide good signal to the end device. The down side of repeaters is you lose at a very minimum 50% of your bandwidth. Also since you now have 2 radio links instead of 1 between your xbox and the modem you double your chance of getting random interference which is the main cause of lag in games.

I would look at powerline extenders as the first option and then look at the extender...unless you can run ethernet part way.
