I noticed that my brand new windows 8 computer keeps giving me an error message that my memory usage is too high and programs need to be closed - typically when the only thing I am running is firefox and I have several tabs open, but nothing crazy I couldn't do on my old windows 7 laptop. I am not an expert in this at all, just very annoyed that it keeps wanting me to shut off Firefox when it is the only program I'm running (and it gets worse if I'm also running excel or powerpoint or something).

Things I have already tried:

I have installed flash blocker and script blockers on firefox, which helped, but didn't solve the problem.

Turned fast startup off

Changed the action center settings to disable everything I could (it would not let me disable Microsoft Account, Windows Activation, Windows Backup, or Startup Apps).

Using Chrome and ie instead (resulted in the same error message asking me to close my browser program)

I do have power settings set to give full power to the wifi (because otherwise I get almost no signal), and can't sacrifice this. I don't have speakers attached to the computer, I do use a wireless mouse and USB wifi signal booster thingy.

This is a screenshot of my usage right now, with only this one tab open in firefox and paint to do the screenshot. I don't have my mouse plugged in or the wifi booster. http://postimg.org/image/5mo784f9h/

Would appreciate any help you can offer!
