Hi guys,

Im in the market for a semi/fully modular power supply unit.

This is my rig:
i5 4690k
Asus z97-AR
Gtx 560ti
Corsair vengeance 8gb ram
3 HDDs, 1 SSD

I will be upgrading my gpu next year (single card, no sli) and maybe a custom wc setup before summers start, nothing too fancy or overkill.

I need a psu that can handle all of this. My preferred brand for psu would be Seasonic. If you feel that any other brand is better or is as good as seasonic, you are most welcome to bring that up to my knowledge.

I wont be able to afford anything from the platinum range.

Note that, here in my country, we only have a limited number of PSU brands available to us. *Available brands are listed below:
Seasonic
Corsair
Cooler Master
Antec

**Evga is not here yet :(

Thank you

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately 650w model is not listed on the website, they have a 620w model.
But thats not an issue, i might just go for a 750w.

What are your thoughts on 'X' and 'S12G' series? They're all priced similarly and i'm confused.

Edit: just found out that the S12G is not modular. But would still like to know how it performs.
Edit 2: Anything below 750W from the S12G series are not certified for haswell link

That link you posted is great! thanks for that.
I am looking for a modular psu.. Plus i will be sleeving the cables so its definitely a lot easier with a modular unit.
Honestly im having a pretty bad time trying to decide, im quite confused with all these different versions of the same model.

I read a bunch of reviews of m12 II and they all have good things to say about it. I read some users are having issues with it being loud. Have you faced this issue as well?

Also, i calculated the power consumption of all my components, including fans etc it comes out around 400 watts. I think i should look in to a 550w or 650w at the max instead of a 750w. I dont think i would be needing that much headroom.

What country so we can get you the correct information !

H...How dyu know I was from India?!
And thanks for the suggestion. I would've bought this in a blink of an eye if it was modular.

Can you confirm if the 620w unit will be compatible with haswell?

I forgot to mention that i am using a corsair 750D full tower case. And id like the psu cables to be long enough.

Thank you!! I will do a little more reading on this before I order it. Will also try to find a 650w model for the same unit just to be on the safe side. In case I cant find it, I will go ahead and purchase this one.

I have one more question if you'd be so nice to answer it..
I currently have a cooler master extreme power plus 600w psu which i purchased back in 2011. A lot of people have told me that its a 'below average psu' and has a bad reputation. The psu is not dead yet but the fan in it starts making really terrible noise as if it is being obstructed by something. It sounds as if the blades of the fan keeps hitting something constantly and after that it just stops spinning completely and the psu gets extremely hot. At times like these i have to be very careful that i turn off my pc before something bad happens. This happens on a monthly basis and when i add some oil to the fan it starts spinning again and theres no noise at all and the psu starts functioning normally again.

I have parts from my previous build that id like to use in my second rig. Do you think i should change the fan in the psu and throw it in ? or does the issue seem quite serious and i should use that psu at all.

Ive been searching for an answer to this since a long time now and it would be of so much help if you could share your opinion on this.
