Hey there,

I just wanted to keep this short and quick so there's not a bunch to read

I just got my new PC-

Specs:
CPU: INTEL® Core™ i7-5820K Six-Core 3.30 GHz
FAN: Corsair Hydro Series H55 Quiet Liquid Cooling system w/ 120mm Radiator
MEMORY: 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4/2133mhz Quad Channel Memory
MOTHERBOARD: MSI X99S SLI Plus INTEL X99 Chipset
POWERSUPPLY: 700 Watts Power Supplies
VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB 16X PCIe 3.0 Video Card

-and I was wondering how I should overclock the CPU? Would Intel Extreme Utility work? or should I do it through BIOS and how?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You overclock by increasing the base clock multiplier in the BIOS. If you raise it too high you might need to increase the CPU operating voltage to make it stable and run without glitches and crashing.

Just google up on how to overclock an Intel processor. It is not exactly a simple thing to do, and it could ruin your Processor.

With the cooler you have you will only want to mess with the multiplier, I wouldn't touch the voltages with the H55, it just doesn't have the cooling power.

Stress test with OCCT.
It will stop the test if your cpu reaches 85c.

Gradually raise the multiplier in the bios from 33 to whatever.
Monitor the vcore. 1.25 is about as high as you want to go. no more than 1.30.
Past that you don't to run 24/7.
You cooler will handle that easily.
