i m going to buy an Asus GTX 760. but i gotto know that my power supply is of 300W and it doesnt have 8 pin pcie power cable. this is the main question. do i really have to plug a 8 pin pcie power cable to my gpu ?? plz help

Solution

If you really want it then you only need to upgrade the psu but to be honest I would personally prefer to get a full system for around 250, but to answer your question you really only do need a new psu.

no but it will give better stability for the system eg the 750ti doesnt need any but it doesnt need any pci slots but some manufactorers do have them. Though i'm wondering if you have a 300w psu what are your other parts because I smell a bottleneck also i'm not sure if 300w is enough.

you will need more power it will be dangerous to run it with 300w you can run it without using the power cables but I dont recommend it at all, also do you already have it because it will be bottlenecked(other components wont use it to it's full potential) because a 750 ti or even lower card would be a better choice, maybe even save up a little more for a full system build

I hope I helped just ask if you didnt understand what I said i'm here to help and i'll try my best as will everyone else.

You'll never see the full potential of that card in a system so old, the card will be severely bottlenecked.

sure I actually made a good one not to long ago that wont be maxing any games out but at 1080p all AAA games will play at at least low setting or higher

This is $15 over but I guess if you wanted to you can put the gpu down a bit more but I would try and leave it if you can. At this budget any more you put into it you will see huge performance increase i'd say every $50 you put into it it will get about 50% stronger.

if you dont know how to find it go to computer in the start menu and click system properties and it will show up or type in dxdiag into the start menu and click it, it will ask you to accept somthing and then shows you all your system properties.
