Hi, I have Seagate st3000dm001, out of the sudden it start making strange noise, it is not like "clicking"
Here is recording:
http://youtu.be/gdoRq7DJ5bk
After I heard that I disconnected it from the machine, I don't know how long that take because I was not next to machine all the time.

Now, I dont want to try to connect it as I heard it can damage it more, although I dont know is that true?
What is the problem, is there anything I can do by myself?
I have another disk exactly the same model, if it is electronics I could swap but I doubt it is problem with electronics...?

The disk was in desktop machine all the time, it never experienced any mechanical damage.
There was power outage two days ago, but after that it worked and didn't show any bad signs, could it be it was damaged because of power outage ?

Is this manual correct?

Anyone had the same problem with same HDD model?

so was the drive working when you pulled it out? DId you only remove it because of the sound? What does the operating system say about the drive?

If you can get to windows with it, run Crystal Disk info and get the SMART info and see if there is any errors.

The drive has failed, if it is under warranty contact Seagate and get it replaced. If not time to buy a new drive.

HDD clicking can be many things(crashed head, bad bearing, etc). Where its not recognized your only means of data recovery would be a data recover service like ontrack or drivesavers.
