i usually play right next to my wifi and get 6mb/s with my ethernet cable but when i moved up the stairs it lowered to 1mb/s (wireless) so my question is, if i put a hole in the wall and connect it via ethernet cable, will it go back to 6mb/s?

Yes wifi is slower. Connect via ethernet cable for the fastest speed.

Wired is WAYYYYY better then wireless when it comes to gaming anything...you are at the mercy of whatever is going on in the air so yeah you should game faster with it wired.

Yes your speed will go back up. Get a cable that is long enough to reach. Try to not go over 50 feet if possible. I have one room wired with a 100 foot cable and the speed did drop off a bit.
