I was planning to get the 270x 2gb but i found this

http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R9_270X_GAMING_4G.html#h...

a 4gb version, what are it's advantages and disadvantages from it original 2gb?

are there adverse effects to watch out having the 4gb version?

Does it have all the perks from the 2gb version like Mantle, True Audio, HD3D (i need these three the most)

here are other 4gb r9 270x's

thank you for your time :)

If you going to spend that much on a 4GB R9 270X, you can get a R9 280 3GB which will be faster.
There is not much benefit of having a 4GB R9 270X for a single 1080p monitor. It will perform the same.
If you only have these choices then get the R9 270X 2GB unless the 4GB is significantly cheaper.

Hello ,

The 4gb version of the 270X isn't worthwhile , at its price you're better off picking up the R9 280 which has 3gb of Vram and much more capable.

The 4gb is a marketing scam , its originally intended to be able to run 4k resolution but since the card isn't quite capable of playing at 4K resolution then the 4gb of vram seems a waste of money.

More Vram is needed in very taxing games with very open environment or in higher resolutions like 1440p however 2gb should be fine for the kind of details you're be gaming on with the 270x anyways.

Also the 4gb of Vram won't come in handy as usually the card will run out of power before using all of its available VRAM anyways so the 2gb version should be more than enough .

The only time I'd pick up a 4gb version if I was going to crossfire and then play on 1440p or so but then a higher/better card will be more suited to that role.

In conclusion : if you have the money to pick up the 4gb version of the card then you're far better off buying the R9 280 which is a better card. The 2gb version will do you fine in most cases :)

thank you, i see, so being 4gb is not as close to having double performance ehatsoever but close to none improvement but rather tosing around 10-30$ (r9 280) with significantly flat out the 4gb 270x?

thank you, i understand now, looking at the price of the 270x and 280 with just 10-30$ difference, and with better performance, that would be the most viable choice.
