Hello

System spec:
Processor: i5 4690k
Mainboard: Asus Maximus VII Ranger (latest bios)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X 8gb
Soundcard: Sound Blaster Z
PSU: Corsair HX750
Single monitor: Samsung BX2431

I was running this setup on my EVGA gtx 670 FTW for a while without any problems.
Lately I bought MSI gtx 970 gaming but I had no signal from DVI. While DVD port was plugged I could load my system (in very low resolution) up to black Win 7 logo, after that there was no signal in either port but from the sound I heard that Win 7 booted. After reset I was able to boot in safe mode I had to RMA that MSI gpu (faulty VRM). I bought Gigabyte gtx 970 G1 gaming and I have the same exact problem. At this time I'm using my old GTX 670 and I have no idea what to do. I've also tried another PCI slot.

Best Regards

Do you have an extra monitor cable anywhere or adapters to try another output on the video card? Since the problem is the same across multiple pieces of hardware, you can start to look at other elements.

Some things to check:

In the bios, have the PCIe GPU selected as the primary device, not set to auto

Try different outputs on the card using adapters, different cables, different monitor/tv

Make sure the PCIe power cables are two separate cables for the power inputs, not one PCIe cable with two sets of 6+2 pin connectors on it

Do you have access to another machine, a friends machine etc that you could temporarily put the card into and see if it duplicates the symptoms?

I managed it to work with hdmi cable. But when I tried to plug DVI into GPU port there was black screen again. When I pluged hdmi cable only then it works fine... No idea what might be the case....

When plugged to DVI it is in standby from the start. When plugged to DVD it will go into standby after win7 logo. I've tried to turn on my monitor after win booted up but it doesn't work. My DV-hdmi cable won't work but hdmi-hdmi cable works fine.

I've heard it also might be nvidia drivers but I think it might be more bios related.

Also during a startup until win7 will start, the fans are spinning at 100% on this GPU. Is that normal?

Some computers, depending on motherboard will operate the fans at full speed during initial post. Can you disable the integrated graphics on the motherboard? Do you have another screen that you could borrow and see if it does the same thing? I'm trying to isolate if it is on the computer side/GPU or a problem with the cable or screen.

Ok I can't find am option to disable integrated graphics on this mb. Tommorow I should be able to check it on another system or even my case on another monitor. About a startup 2 other owners of G1 gaming said that this GPU acts this way during post.

Ok I've checked my rig on another monitor and DV-D works just fine, still no signal from DV-I.
I can boot into safe mode without any problems but when I try to change resolution it doesn't see my monitor.

I actualy might made a mistake. I have no info on my screen saying "no signal". Screen is just black and switches to diffrent modes and then it goes into standby mode. Does that change anything?

Is it possible that my mb could break DVI port? They tested my GTX 970 G1 Gaming and they told me that DVI is malfunctioning. They replaced with a new one but I still have a blackscreen with DVI cable.
