I just got a 128GB SSD and I'm wondering if I need to format/partition the new drive? Right now its 119GB free out of 119GB and there are no folders named Users, Program Files, Windows, etc. Is that ok?

I currently have an SSD with windows OS on it, and 2 1TB HDDs for storage and what not. This second SSD is primarly for some games and a few programs. My question is can I install games and programs to this SSD without any partition? I don't know if I need to or not.

You don't need to format the SSD in order to use it. Just plug it in and it should work.
It'll be identified as 1 whole partition (max 119GB), you just need to choose the installation directory for your games in there.

Hi

Usually windows will offer to partition and then format it for you
If you go to windows explorer if it has been partitioned and formatted you would expect a drive letter and some hidden folders

You can use disk management to show this disk and its current state formatted or not drive letter or not

Most new SSD or hard drives are not pre partitioned or formatted and can be used with windows , Unix, Linux Mac or other os after partitioning & formatting
