After much contemplation i've decided to build a brand new intel based PC instead of upgrading my current PC.

What i've looked into getting so far:

Motherboard: MSI Z97-Gaming 5 ATX
CPU: Intel i7- 4790k
Ram: HyperX 8gb 1600MHZ DDR3 2X4
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970
SSD: Crucial M500 Series 240GB SSD
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB Hard Drive - 7200RPM
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 RC-912-KKN1
PSU: Corsair CX 750W Modular Series

Heres my current build:

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
Processor: AMD FX 6300
Ram: 16GB (4x4) PC3-10700 1333mhz
GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5
HDD: Western Digital 500GB 7200 RPM
SSD: Crucial M4 128GB
Case: CM Storm Enforcer
PSU: Corsair CX 600w modular

Let me know if you think i could salvage ANYTHING to save some $.

Anything you guys would swap out? Current build is about $1250 without shipping. Current Budget is.... Anything i want to spend quite honestly. Was looking to spend less than $1500.

If you don't do editing/rendering/etc you can just get an i5-4690K, performance in games is nearly identical to the i7 while saving you about a hundred bucks.

Put some of that money towards a better PSU and you're golden.

Sounds good. I dont do video rendering or editing so you're right. What would be better than a 750w corsair psu or the 600w psu i have?

any suggestion on something i can salvage from my current PC?

Well, you don't need anything near 750w with a 970 unless you're planning on SLI'ing somewhere down the line.
Something like this would be a good fit:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($54.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $54.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Or, if you want modularity:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Power Supply: XFX XTR 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $74.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

So i just double checked i actually have the thermaltake m850w so thats probably extreme overkill. Should i keep it or get one of the ones you suggested?

That's a pretty decent PSU, I don't see a reason not to keep it!

Too much wattage is almost never a bad thing, there's just no point in buying a PSU with overkill wattage because they tend to be either more expensive or of lesser quality. Since you already have the PSU and it's of decent quality you can just keep it.

Yea i forgot about 3 months ago my PSU died and the only one bestbuy had was the 850w thermaltake.

Anything you think i can salvage from my old PC?

You could reuse the ram and drives for now.
