From going through the forum, this seems to be a very common question but with countless different answers. I figured asking one more time wont hurt. I know I am about to open pandora's box but this is will be first build and would like any advice you guys are willing to offer.
Here is the deal:
I am moving from a laptop to desktop and therefore do not have a monitor, keyboard or mouse.
I am looking for a good setup but I need an OS and the above mentioned items.
I want to stay around $900-$1000 total (which includes OS, Keyboard, mouse and monitor). I dont mind if its over with some mail in rebates.

Useage for:
gaming, and simple video editing in addition to microsoft office and normal usage.

I dont have a preference between intel or Amd, just looking to get a best bang for my buck.

If anyone has any advice or sample builds I would greatly appreciate it.

This is slightly over your preferred budget but this should nail your requirements

If the balance is more video editing than gaming, then I'd change things significantly.
