Hello, sorry if I didn't post in the right section, I'm rather new and a noob in PC hardware and such.

I would like to upgrade my graphics card to something better and I'd like some suggestions on what should I do, as my budget is limited and I do not want to waste my money on something that won't work with my puny system. I will list my stuff down bellow, please don't laugh :\

CPU Type QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2400 MHz (9 x 267)

Motherboard Name EVGA 650i Ultra (NF66) (3 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)

DIMM1: GeIL CL4-4-4DDR2-667 1 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)
DIMM2: Kingston 99C5316-026.A00LF 1 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)
DIMM3: Kingston 99C5316-026.A00LF 1 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)
DIMM4: GeIL CL4-4-4DDR2-667 1 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)

Current GFX card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 (1 GB)

Disk Drive ST1000DM 003-1CH162 SCSI Disk Device (1000 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-III)
Disk Drive SAMSUNG HD161GJ SCSI Disk Device (160 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)

I have a Horizon 22" Monitor, if that's even relevant.

My current Power supply is a 450W one, at least I think it is (Thats what it says on it's case..., it's really a standard one).

I would really love to buy a Asus 6950 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 off a friend who doesn't need it cause he's getting something better.

My question is, would that work with my current system? Would I need a new power supply? if yes, what kind.

I'd also like some suggestions of video cards that would work with my system if the one above is not gonna work.

Thanks.

Solution
Your mobo - http://www.evga.com/articles/356.asp has 1 x pxiex16 slot

Your CPU is on tier 5 of http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html

I wouldn't get a stronger GPU than from tier 8 of http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html eg GTX660, R7 269X

Both of which need a good quality 450+W PSU. Good quality being from tiers 1, 2a or 2b of http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html of which your PSU is not.

Get a Seasonic 520, XFX550 or Antec HCG 520 to go with your GTX660 or R7 260X
