Hi, I'm looking for help with the following issue: when enabling crossfire, my computer will freeze on any game I'm currently running, the screen freezes (sometimes with a buzzing sound), and no error message is shown after restarting, these are my specs:

Intel i7 3770k
Visiontek AMD 7970 3GB (x2)
Asus Maximus V Extreme
32Gb Corsair Vengeance RAM
Corsair AX1200w PSU
Windows 8.1 x64

Crossfire was running without issue on a variety of games until recently (built this computer in late 2012), I have tested each card individually and I haven't experienced any problem or crash it is only with crossfire enabled that my computer will freeze after a couple mins while running a game.

I have also tried the following:

-Used a new crossfire cable (I tested a similar new crossfire cable from another Asus Maximus V extreme)
-Connected the crossfire cable on the 2nd connector on the card.
-Connecting the cards to another set of PCI-e connectors.
-Disabled AMD HD Audio.
-Tried different drivers from 2012, 2013, 2014.
-Removed all drivers with DDU and installed 14.9 fresh.
-Reinstalled Windows, tried with a fresh install of Windows 8 (and 8.1) too.
-Different power cables.
-Increased fan speeds on both cards (I considered overheating at some point).
-Updated BIOS.

What else can I try to solve this problem? I'd very like to be able to use Crossfire again :p.

Thanks in advance.

Weird... Hopefully AMD will release new graphics drivers that will fix the problem.

Hi, I tried crossfire with slots 1 and 3 and the problem persisted, I also ran the 2nd card alone on the 2nd slot once and it ran without problems, it only crashes when crossfire is enabled.

It sounds like a mobo problem.

Is it anything that could be solved though? the freeze occurs randomly, sometimes within seconds, sometimes after hours, yet each card individually works without issue (I've also tested with both cards plugged, crossfire disabled and running of each, no freezes, I only got one monitor)

I have the same problem. Hd 7970 xfire asus x79 sabertooth. Im planning on using another bridge or connect with 2 bridges. The cards work well separately and i have been able to run 3dmark once with crossfire. It normally hangs while loading.

Weird... Hopefully AMD will release new graphics drivers that will fix the problem.
