970 vs 290x vs 780 vs 290

Hey guys, I have been looking for a comparsion between these cards, and everyone says, go with the 970, it uses less power, less heat etc etc.

What i really want to know is RAW performance, I dont care about TDPs or heat, I just care about numbers, both in gaming and benchs. Silence is important too, but the Vapor-X are almost dead silent anyway so thats a point i guess i shouldnt care much (not as good as 0db as some 970s offer, but whatever)

The GTX 970 outperform the Radeon 290X. GTX lower power consumption, Radeon produces more heat.

You said 290x first then 280x which one did you ment? I ordered a 970 Strix, but I someone told me that 290x had more performance so i was thinking about returning it for a 290x VaporX. He might have been full of crap tho, which card should be better when overclocked? assuming i got average chips, not beast overclockers not crappy ones

The 970 IS stronger than the 290X, especially when you factor in the low temps and power consumption the card has.

Sorry, made a mistake I meant 290X.
and Stay with the GTX 970. Stronger GPU, lower heat production and can OC better.

Plus, the 970 has EVGA's new ACX 2.0 cooler, which is better than the original.

Evga is having some issues with their cooling, one of the pipe doesn't really touch the GPU. So, I will take that into consideration. Gigabyte, MSI and Asus are great options.

Actually, it's EVGA's ACX (not 2.0) cooler that has the heatpipe issues and not the 2.0 cooler.

Okay thanks guys, I will wait for my 970 to get here I already ordered the Strix, that 0db while in idle is so sweet.
