Portable DVD player AV in.

I have an LG DP781 portable DVD player that supports AV input via a 3.5mm 4-pole AV jack, like most camcorders. I'm attempting to use this feature but all I can get is audio, no video. I'm using a 3.5mm to RCA AV cable and RCA coupler to connect it to my PS2/PS3.

The audio is fine, but any time I try to plug in the video all I get is a loud buzzing. I've tried every combination of connections, the result is always the same: yellow video connection gets nothing but buzz. I've tested the cables I'm using and they're fine. I'm thinking that there must be an internal issue with the 3.5mm jack on the DVD player due to the loud buzzing it's producing. I'm about to open it up and see, but I don't really have any clue what to look for.

Can anyone help me out? Any idea what the problem might be, or what I should look for once I open it up? There's no reason it shouldn't work, and with the buzzing sound it just about has to be a hardware issue...right?
