Hi, I got a new processor (fx8350) a while ago which worked fine for over a week.. When i stressed the cpu the pc randomly shutdown and wont boot at all. (Only the fans are spinning)
After using google i find out that my mobo only supports a 95w cpu. The one i bought is a 125w.
Is it the motherboard that takes damage from this or is it the CPU?
Motherboard : MSI 760GM-E51 (fx)

It'll probably be the board that fails. I'm not absolutely certain but I've always taken the TDP rating of a motherboard to refer to the maximum power delivery that the VRM's can cope with. It probably could work, but on those non-heatsinked VRM's on a low quality board from a brand renowned for using low end components on their motherboards? I don't know :( You'd certainly be stressing them a lot.
