Hi there
I have an issue with my desktop computer and internet. So all my other computers and laptops have greats speeds ~40mbps even over WiFi. Except there is a computer a distance away from my modem so I need to hard wire it. That has been done and the speeds were great. Except now the speeds have dropped an settings or anything were changed relating to the internet on my computer or desktop (if any were changed at all). So I thought maybe it's the cable so I got my laptop which was getting ~40mbps over WiFi and when hard wired directly to modem and connected it to the cable going to the desktop in question the speeds it was getting were ~40mbps as well. This makes me think it is something to do with my computer. When I ran network diagnostic test one time I came up with result "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding" I only got that result twice. Went to this website:

Followed all the steps to no avail. Except when I was restarting my computer when it was just starting up and not all the services had started up it was a solid 38mbps which is what I want. Then it went down hill but within about a minute of starting up I can always get the maximum speed.I also tried to test the speed over wifi to see if it was an ethernet issue but still the same problem.
I own a Telstra Cable Home Network Gateway as you can see here:
http://www.telstra.com.au/connectedhome/enhancements/getwifi/#tab-cable
With cable internet
My desktop is a custom built desktop so I am not able to give you the model number sorry. I can supply the parts if needed but it is capable of the speeds so I strongly believe it's a software issue.
I have approx 15 devices connected to it 5 over Ethernet (included desktop in question)
Thanks in advance
