Apart from personal preference to Asus this would be another option because of good power design http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157479&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
I had an FX-8350 with the same board and got great results; I don't remember specifics, but I kept it at ~4.8 GHz steady. I did add a fan to the backside of the mobo to keep the socket a little cooler b/c they can run hot when you add voltage. Just make sure you have adequate cooling.

I am using one right now and it has done a great job. No real problems. It handled an FX 9590 foe a couple months til I got an sabertooth R 2.0 for it. It handled the heat well because I had a great air cooler. Had it at 5.166 Ghz fo a while. No problems. Now I am using it in my everyday machine with an FX8320 and it is fine.
Looking at the Asus vs. the ASRock, the Asus appears to have more VRM phases, which is helpful when going for extreme overclocks, plus ASRock's use of the molex for the PCIe power is completely out of not putting in the effort to do a good job of delivering power across the board.

Hey, That board is quite good for the price.
You can expect 4.8Ghz depending on your cooling & chip.
The 990fxa ud3 rev1.1 would be a better choice.
Rev 1.1? Why so old? I have a 990FXA UD3 rev 4...
I just recently RMA'd it to Gigabyte because of an UEFI issue it was having. It is now on its way back with a note saying they couldn't find anything wrong. I'm considering replacing it.
rev 3 & 4 seemed to had some issues related to overclocking.
The rev 3 was a mess, I'm not really sure about rev 4, but some folks over at ocn were running 5ghz 24/7 on rev 1.1, so it seems better.
I decided to go with Rolli59's suggestion and get the Fatal1ty. Already on order. More than I wanted to spend, but... Oh well.
Thanks to all for their interest in helping me.
