Thanks for the help. I'm looking to upgrade my aging computer. I've included all the information below along with some things I was looking at. I'm welcome to all suggestions!

Approximate Purchase Date: Within in the next 2-3 weeks.

Budget Range: Like to keep it under $1300 before rebates. Normally I don't spend above $1,000 but just incase I added some extra funds.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, web surfing, watching videos and some other applications.

Are you buying a monitor: No. Have a 24 inch running 1920x1080.

Parts to Upgrade: All as it is a new PC Build

Do you need to buy OS: No. I have access to Windows 8.1 32bit or 64bit. I’m planning on installing 64bit.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I prefer buying from Newegg, because almost all products can be shipped for free and no tax. I have Amazon Prime but I hate paying taxes. I’m not a huge fan or rebates as it can be troublesome to RMA to Newegg aftewards.

Location: Seattle, WA USA

Parts Preferences
: Intel based PC, and I prefer ASUS brands for my motherboard and GPU. Corsair Power supply. I have had no problems with them the last 10+ years.

Overclocking: I don’t really like to mess configure overclocking anymore. In my 20's sure, but in my 30's with work, kids, and a wife. I don’t have that much time anymore to tinker.

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I will be using this PC for 4-6 years and it will probably turn into a kid’s school computer on my next upgrade. I have an Asus Xonar Essence card I will be putting in the machine as well. I’ve used the Antec 900 Black Steel for my last two machines. I'm open to other options that don’t have the LED’s now if needed. Also I love quiet machines.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My current computer is about 4 years old. I like to update ever 5 years or so. I do a lot of PC gaming and I’ve noticed my old 1tb spin drive and Graphics card are starting to work hard lately. Also Witcher 3 is coming!

you don't need a z97 motherboard if you aren't OCing or SLI-ing.

made a few changes to your build

Thanks for the information so far guys. Quick question bsod1. I've never used two hard drives before. Would the second drive just be for storing data the likes? Also any particular reason for the case over a cheaper Corsair 500R or Antec 900? After doing some reading it seems that I might just need 8GB of Ram and not 16GB. I'll have to look more into that.

Btw , i like Corsar 500R White very much

yeah 8 gb is plenty good for gaming. I kept it 16gb because I thought you'd like that and for 'future-use'.

Oh, there isn't any particular reason I chose that. the Corsair 500R is absolutely amazing and I'd keep that if you want to save the money.

And yep, the SSD is to store the OS and applications/games and the harddrive is for static data.
